Today, Ledger shared the news about creating a new generation of hardware wallets, Ledger Nano X, from their official Twitter account.

In the announcement video, CEO and Co-founder of Ledger, Éric Larchevêque, talks about the fact that crypto assets are one of the easiest things to steal, and that the mission of the Ledger team is to bring security to crypto owners.

Despite the presence of Bluetooth, the CEO of Ledger in his message on Reddit assured users that it would not affect the safety:

“The Nano X operates with the assumption that the Bluetooth connection (which is a bearer, exactly like USB) is compromised. The addition of BLE doesn’t impact the security model. Transactions must always be physically verified on device by pressing both buttons. Moreover, on the Nano X screens and buttons are directly connected to the Secure Element (single chip architecture), which is also an enhancement of the general security design.”
The main features of Ledger Nano X:
  • Bluetooth support
  • State-of-the-art security
  • Ledger Live Mobile app (iOS and Android)
  • Supports up to 100 simultaneously-installed apps
  • 100 mAh battery
  • Increased the device screen size (128×64)
  • Improved navigation

Pre-orders start now. Officially, the device will be available in March at a price of 119 EUR.
